This article guides you through the process of changing a Direct-debit Membership.

Prerequisites
Role
Your Role must have the Manage membership Permission.
Scope
You must have a Role within the Member's Branch.
Rules
- Fees associated with first-time sign-ups are not applied i.e. Joining fees, Access card fees and Partial payments
- Membership changes can only be performed immediately (they cannot be scheduled in the future)
- Memberships can only be changed after the first Membership Payment has been received
- You can only change an Ongoing membership to another Ongoing membership
- Any Promotion associated with the old Membership will be forfeited
- Any Promotion associated with the new Membership will be ignored
- Memberships with an End date cannot be changed
- Suspended Membership must be unsuspended first
- Memberships with a future Suspension must have the scheduled Suspension cancelled first
- Overdue Memberships cannot be changed until the overdue amount is paid
- A Membership change will not occur if the Member's credit card has expired
- A Membership change will not occur if the Member's email address is not present at the Billing company's end

Use case
Members with existing Memberships may for any reason decide they want to change to another type of Membership the Branch offers. Changing a Membership cancels the old Membership, then creates a new one while maintaining the same Billing reference number within the Billing company. Fees associated with first-time sign-ups such as Joining fees, Access card fees or Partial payments are not applied.
Navigation
Memberships are changed at Branch level:
Branch level
To change a Membership:
Navigate to Branch level (dark coloured menu)
Select a Branch (optional)
Click on Members
Change a direct-debit membership
To change a Direct-debit Membership:

Select the Member from the Member list |

Click on Memberships (top menu) |

Select the Membership you want to modify |
||

Click on the three vertical dots (on the right-hand side of the Membership) |

||
Click Change |
||
|
||
Select the Membership plan you want to change the Member to Note: Only Membership plans containing Ongoing Payment options will be displayed. |

Select the Payment option you want to change the Member to Note: Only Ongoing Payment options will be displayed. |
